Kitesurfing spot | Switzerland

Overview

Welcome to Lake Geneva!
I think kitesurfing has existed on the Vengeron spot for more than 20 years. Back in the days of the first Wipika 2-line kites around 1998-1999, you could already see the first kiters from Team Force 5, with Yvan leading the way, doing their first attempts and crossing the small lake.
The Vengeron spot is very nice, you rig your kite on the grass, the wind blows full force on the launch area, if it wasn't for that damn water entry, the spot would be perfect! But once on the water, the slightly tricky passage through the rocks is quickly forgotten! One thing to note is that the small lake is forbidden to kites from the (virtual) line Vengeron-Square Tower. So once on the water, don't forget to quickly head upwind.
For after your session or if you need advice, the Force 5 refreshment stand on the spot is a must-visit to discuss everything and recharge your energy. If you have any kite questions, ask for Yvan.

Technical details of Le Vengeron spot

Spot functioning map

Local association recommendations

Currently, the site is under construction for the renovation and building of the new port. The duration of the works is undetermined. That's why there are boats parked on the grassy launch area. The masts are obstructive and dangerous as they are close to the rocky stairs water entry. Be careful! Prefer this spot in case of light wind. The place is changing and will regularly change (parking and water entry), we cannot always keep you informed of the latest modifications. We will try to do our best, thank you for your understanding
Warning: The Vengeron spot is in danger and we need to mobilize:
So get moving if you want to save your spot!

Spot functioning

Launch, water entry
You launch on the grass beach (the part close to the anemometer), take your board under your arm and go down (carefully) into the rocks to enter the water. Once in the water, you are in a swimming area. So you need to body drag out of it. Once offshore, remember not to drift too much, the downwind area of the spot is forbidden for kitesurfing. In case of very strong wind (30 knots and more), there are many waves in the rocks, so to enter the water, it's better to jump from the bottom of the rocks (kite slightly oriented offshore), experts only.).
For foilers discovering this spot, have someone bring the foil to you in the water, it's easier.

Exiting the water
To exit the water, you just need to climb back up the rocks with the kite at zenith. If the board is cumbersome, leave it in the water and come back for it later. If the wind is very strong, it's also possible to exit the water via the downwind access ramp (at the refreshment stand level), but then you'll need to walk back up the path, kite at zenith, to land where you started. The ramp and path are downwind of trees and it's better to have fairly long lines to avoid your kite losing wind and falling...

So to summarize, if it's your first time riding here, observe the locals and ask for advice or help!

Wind specificities

It works with the bise (North-east) and that's the only valid direction. For south-west winds, prefer Hermance or spots near Morges.

The live wind data and webcam will give you a good idea of the conditions (Many thanks to Vengeron.net). You will also find weather forecasts made by a meteorologist on their website  -> http://www.vengeron.net/page/previsions.php
