Overview

Les 3 Digues — a Mediterranean sea-side kitesurf spot, in the middle of the lido connecting Sète to Marseillan-Plage (12 km sandy strip). Official kite zone open year-round, including summer when a channel separates swimmers from kitesurfers.

Known for its waves: conditions often beautiful and sometimes very powerful, especially with SE Marin wind. Ideal alternative when the afternoon thermal blows and the Pont-Levis lagoon side lacks wind.

Ideal spot for foiling (wing, kitefoil, windfoil) in light to moderate wind.

Spot functioning
Open sea spot, south-facing. Mainly works with sea wind (S, SW, SE) — onshore. Excellent in summer with afternoon thermal and autumn/winter with marine depressions.

In summer, the marked channel (yellow buoys) defines the kite zone. Respect zones and TKC (orange lycras). Spacious rigging area on the beach.

Parking
Large car park at end of road, ideal for campervans. Height barrier 2.20 m. The kite zone is at the Sète end of the car park, marked with a "Kite Zone" sign (swimming prohibited in this area).

Access the beach via the path over the breakwater.

Wind specificities
Thermal S/SW (10-15 kts): main wind in summer, onshore blowing towards beach. No risk of being pushed out to sea. Ideal for foiling.

Marin SE: frequent autumn/winter/spring, often very strong, builds big unpredictable waves. Caution!

Marin S/SW: works very well, beautiful waves.

Tramontane NW / Mistral N: offshore — pushes out to sea, avoid here. Prefer Pont-Levis lagoon side.

Hazards
3 submerged breakwaters: in strong conditions, the sea covers the three breakwaters in front of the spot entrance. If you can't see them, stay to the left.

Unpredictable waves: with SE Marin, waves can become very large and irregular. Caution!

N/NW wind: offshore, pushes you out to sea. Don't ride here in Tramontane.

Summer channel: respect markers separating swimmers from kitesurfers. Ride beyond 300 m.

Deep water: unlike Pont-Levis, you can't stand.
