Spot functioning
In summer, launching is done in a reduced area from gate 16 to 21. There is also an exit channel that you must take to reach the 300m zone. Off-season, the entire bay is open, but it's still recommended to launch from the kite zone. Avoid the area where windsurfers launch, they have quite a character in this region.
On the water
On the water, this spot can be very crowded. So review your priorities and often by tacking for 10 minutes you'll find yourself alone (As on all spots in the world actually ;-) )
Required level
Intermediate
Spot opening date
Ouvert toute l'année
In summer, the spot is limited to the launch area between gates 16 to 21 of the Route du Sel.
Exit channel and prohibition of navigation in the 300m zone.
Parking
Parking all along the Route du Sel in summer. Off-season, the Route du Sel may be closed and parking is located at the beginning of the road on the Giens side.
Be careful not to leave anything in your car/van, it's always a hotspot for theft.
Hazards
The beach is not large, it's delimited by reed screens. The road is just behind, so launch with your hand on the safety release. Beginners, this is not really the right spot.
Wind specificities
There are really two wind patterns, requiring two different approaches.
In West, North-West patterns, the water is a real battlefield, with beautiful waves, but it can quickly become nice. However, since you're launching on-shore, you need to be sure you can tack and exit through the channel to reach the 300m zone
In East wind, especially off-season, the water surface transforms into a mirror with sometimes more than 45 knots. The advantage off-season is that you can ride 50cm from the beach, sensations guaranteed. However, in case of problems, you drift very quickly offshore. If you're not confident, local schools offer supervised sessions.
