Spot de Paracas Bay

Paracas Bay

Paracas Bay

Overview

Paracas Bay is the most famous kitesurf spot in Peru, located in the Ica region. This U-shaped bay offers exceptional sailing conditions with nearly daily wind 300 days a year. The wind blows from the south, side-onshore, picking up around 11:30 AM and can blow until sunset. Intensity ranges from 15 to 30 knots, with gusts up to 40 knots on some evenings. The best season is from October to April, but even in the low season (May-August), there are about 60% rideable days. The U-shaped bay makes the spot very safe: it is nearly impossible to drift out to sea. The water is flat near the beach and shallow, perfect for beginners. Experienced riders find more challenging conditions further out. Several kitesurf schools are set up on site.
