It's not Peru, says the adage, but Pacasmayo is still the end of the world. Flight to Lima from your country, then a domestic flight to Chiclayo. Then 2 hours by road to reach the coastal town of Pacasmayo. A long journey with only one objective: to ride at the lighthouse spot on one of the longest waves in the world.
The best period for the wind/wave combo is from April to October (Fall - Winter). During this period, the waves come from the South, South-West and the wind is side off-shore coming from the South, South-East. In terms of waves, you can expect from 1.5m up to 6m on big days. What also and especially makes the spot's reputation is the length of the waves that will definitely make your thighs burn with rides of more than a kilometer, and yes, it's a left-hander.
Of course, it's an ideal spot for all forms of wave riding: Kite, Wing, Windsurf, and mornings for surfing and foiling.
The required level to ride the spot really varies depending on the height of the waves. In case of small waves, there's no shore break to pass, but when it gets bigger, it becomes much more challenging.
