Caleta Matanzas is a renowned kitesurfing spot located in the O'Higgins region, in central Chile. Matanzas is considered the kitesurfing capital of Chile, with exceptional wind conditions. The "Matanzas breeze" thermal wind blows from the northwest in side-onshore, between 15 and 25 knots, picking up around 10-11am. The spot also benefits from the "surazo" (south wind) which can blow for 3-4 consecutive days. The season runs from August to April. The spot is suitable for intermediate to advanced riders. Waves can be significant. The water is cool (14-17°C).
