Rathtrevor Beach is a popular provincial park located near Parksville, on the east coast of Vancouver Island. The spot faces east toward the Georgia Strait. The beach is famous for its immense sand flats at low tide — the water retreats several hundred metres. Family-friendly spot, very busy in summer with camping in the park.
Flat to slightly choppy water. Very flat sandy bottom. Extremely tide-dependent: at low tide, water is hundreds of metres from the beach. Riding only possible at high tide or mid-rising tide. Moderate fetch from the east.

Extreme tidal range — risk of being stranded on sand if tide goes out. Very busy swimming zone in summer (provincial park). Floating logs. Cold water. Provincial park regulations — check authorized zones for kitesurfing.
