Eagle Lake is a prairie lake east of Calgary, near Strathmore, at 923 m altitude. This medium-sized lake offers an accessible water body for kitesurfing in the Chinook wind corridor of southern Alberta.
The lake regularly benefits from Chinook winds descending from the Rockies, which can blow with force in this transition zone between the foothills and the prairies. The flat surrounding landscape lets wind through without obstruction. Season from June to September. About 45 minutes from Calgary.
Prairie fresh water. Temperature of 18-22°C in summer. Muddy bottom. Shallow lake — short, fast chop. The flat landscape generates regular wind without turbulence. Sailing space adapted to lake size.
