Vemmingbund is a protected bay in southern Denmark near Sønderborg. One of the country's best flat water spots for beginners. The bay opens to the east — east winds are enhanced by thermal effects on sunny days. West wind also works along the bay axis. Talk to locals before entering the water.
Flat to choppy water in the sheltered bay. Shallow initially, then transition to deeper sections at about 50 m. Chop in east (onshore) wind. Clean water.

WOODEN STAKES with fishing nets in the middle of the bay — major hazard. Wooden bridge. Many swimmers (July-August). Very busy holiday beach. Always talk to locals before riding to learn about current hazards.
