Rømø is the kitesurfing capital of Denmark, renowned for its immense beaches and perfect conditions for beginners. Lakolk Strand is the main beach, exceptionally wide where you can even park your car directly on the sand.
Located in the Wadden Sea, Rømø island offers shallow waters and immense open spaces, ideal for learning. Several kitesurf schools are located along Lakolk Beach. It's also an excellent landkite spot thanks to the firm, flat beach.
Best season from March to October. Several kitesurf schools offer beginner lessons along the beach. Equipment rental available on site. The island is accessible by road from the mainland via a causeway.

Generally flat to slightly choppy water, perfect for beginners and freestyle. Shallow waters allowing standing over large areas. Tides can significantly modify the rideable surface. Wetsuit recommended year-round.
Parking directly on the beach - you can drive your car onto the firm sand and set up wherever you please. The immense width of the beach means you'll never feel crowded, even in peak summer.
Best winds: N, NNW, NW, S, SSW, SW. The spot produces fantastic conditions from Force 6+ with south to southwest and north to northwest winds. Prevailing winds come from the west, providing consistent conditions.
Watch out for tidal changes and offshore winds. The east side of Fanø (the neighbouring island) is a protected area where kitesurfing is forbidden. Stay vigilant regarding tidal currents.
