Meisho Maru is a kite spot named after the wreck of the Japanese cargo ship Meisho Maru No. 38, stranded in 1982 near Cape Agulhas. The rusted wreck on the beach is an iconic landmark. The coast is very exposed to Southern Ocean swell with powerful conditions. It's a place rich in maritime history, a few kilometers from the southernmost point of Africa.
Works in SE, E and SSE from October to March. Constant southern swell. Waves 1 to 3m. The wreck creates local currents — keep your distance.

Powerful waves. Sand and rock bottom. Water at 14-18°C, 3/2 to 4/3 wetsuit. Current around the wreck.
Parking near the Meisho Maru wreck. Access via coastal road from L'Agulhas. Tourist area but isolated.
SE and E side-onshore to onshore, 15-30 knots from October to March. Very reliable wind in the Agulhas area. SSE also works. Often windy conditions thanks to oceanic convergence.
