St-Blaise is the main spot of the city of Neuchâtel. It works very well in southwest wind and conditions can be epic. It's a grass and pebble beach, the launch isn't great as it's often very sheltered at the shore. But once on the water, it's pure joy.
Rig your kite close to the water and lay out the lines sideways. Always launch with the kite towards the water.
Intermediate
Open all year round
A large car park is located right behind the spot. Don't forget to pay as usual (5 CHF per day).
There are a few hazards. First, the spot is very close to the motorway (the tunnel right behind the spot) and the railway isn't far either. If you lose your kite on shore, it could end up blocking the motorway or the train. Beyond the danger this would create, it would almost certainly mean the death of the spot. So always launch with the kite towards open water.
The wind can be very turbulent near the shore, so don't hang around — get on the water quickly.
On the water, the reed point you see downwind is a nature reserve and the water is very shallow. Just above the spot is the launch area for windsurfers from Club Ichtus and Wishboon Club. Don't ride there even if it looks super flat and tempting. This makes it easier for beginner windsurfers to launch and reduces the risk of accidents. Please respect this!
Otherwise, this is a spot shared with windsurfers, sailors, SUP riders... So as always, behave well and everything will be fine for everyone.
Primarily a southwest wind spot, it also works in Joran (westerly wind coming down from the valley), but much more gusty. In strong Bise it's also rideable, but it's much better at the other end of the lake (Yvonand).
