Well-sheltered spot with steady wind coming from the southeast, which pushes you back to the beach in case of trouble. Official spot dedicated to kitesurfing by the municipality of Sainte-Anne, signposted on the local road. You can stand in the water for 200m then it's 2.5m deep up to the coral reef which is about 400m out and not recommended to cross. Downside: sargassum seaweed that accumulates on the beach in July-August, but it's manageable. No fresh water available for rinsing, though there is a small pond for temporarily cleaning equipment (water clearly not drinkable!).
FFVL certified spot. Managed by the kite club Sainte-Anne Kite School offering lessons at 90 EUR (decreasing rate for 5+ lessons). Full equipment rental for 80 EUR, 5-pack at 50 EUR, 10-pack at 40 EUR.
Leaving Sainte-Anne towards Saint-François, about 600m after the gendarmerie, a gravel path is on the right. At the entrance, there is a sign "Kitesurf Schools". The spot's parking is 200m further.
Beginner
Open all year round
300m zone inside the lagoon, before the coral reef.
Plenty of parking available. Plan for a car wash if using a rental car, as the terrain is muddy. Beware that rental agencies charge 50 EUR for car washing, so don't hesitate to do it yourself.
Crossing the coral reef is risky even for advanced kiters as you may hit the reef. Otherwise no particular dangers.
Wind comes from the southeast, pushing you back to the beach. If you lose your board, you'll find it on the beach, as long as you didn't lose it beyond the coral reef which is quite far out, beyond the lagoon.
