La Baule / Pornichet is one of the most iconic kitesurf spots on the Loire-Atlantique coast, stretching along the famous La Baule bay. The spot has two main zones: Pornichet/La Baule in southwest to northwest wind, and La Baule Casino in east to southwest wind at low tide. The kite zone runs between the Vent d'Ouest club and the Yagga La Baule school near the Casino. Technical area on the esplanade lawn or on the beach. In summer, kite is restricted to the channels — only before 10am or after 7pm during the day. FFVL-labelled spot.
Pornichet/La Baule: practice zone in southwest to northwest wind. La Baule Casino: east to southwest wind, best at low tide. Kite zone between the Vent d'Ouest club and Yagga La Baule school (near Casino). In summer, only ride in the designated channels before 10am or after 7pm. Launch from the small esplanade lawn or beach. Parking: remblai and adjacent streets at Pornichet; several car parks 50-150m from the Casino depending on tide.
Sheltered bay with flat to slightly choppy water. Sandy bottom, tidal range significant. No major ocean swell inside the bay. Best at low tide for more beach space. Wind from the southwest to northwest gives cross-onshore conditions. Shared with windsurfers, catamarans, char Ă voile and speed sail.

Open year-round. In summer (mid-June to mid-September): kite only in the designated channels, before 10am or after 7pm during the day. At high tide in summer, riding space is very limited near the embankment. Off-season: free access. Best season: April to October.
Pornichet/La Baule: southwest to northwest wind, slightly northwest. La Baule Casino: east to southwest wind — excellent cross-shore conditions at low tide. The bay orientation means multiple wind angles are usable. Summer thermal cycle is reliable from midday.
